What kind of photographer are you?
I am a natural light family photographer near Sheridan, Indiana, specializing in lifestyle photography. My photography could be described as authentic, connected, and documentary with a splash of traditional style. I guide you through the entire time we are shooting and many times you will hear me say many times things such as, "don't look at me, look at each other and think about your first date” or “hold hands, walk to the tree and sing your favorite song” or “let’s do a big group hug”. This is how your photographs become a collection of images that tell the visual story of who you are now. The connections and details of your shoot are what you will treasure for a lifetime. Although you will find some images in your gallery that feel traditional, the majority may make you feel like somehow the moments were just magically captured.
How many images will I get?
On average we deliver 20 edited images per session (Each image will be presented in color and in B&W). Although every session varies and I usually deliver more.
How long will it take for me to get my images?
Each session varies slightly but I will have your images fully edited and uploaded within 2 weeks. Albums will be delivered in about 4 - 5 weeks. I will provide a print release so you may print your images wherever you see fit (I do make suggestions). You also have the option to print from my professional lab as well.
How do I pay? When do I pay?
I use an online payment system to invoice you and payment can be made with any major credit card. To reserve your date you must pay a non-refundable 50% deposit. If the date changes I will do my best to accommodate the changes. Two weeks before the session you will receive an invoice for the remainder of the session fee and it is due at that time.
Do you photograph pets?
You are always welcome to bring your pets to a photo shoot. Just let me know so I am prepared. I am also happy to book a photo shoot for just you and your pet!
Do you travel or do destination sessions?
Yes! I would love to travel for your session. Please let me know about your travel requests and I will provide you with a specific travel quote. There is no fee for travel within 40 miles of Sheridan.
Where will my session be held?
I am an on-location family photographer in Hamilton County, Indiana, and surrounding areas, together we decide what location is the best for you. Milestone sessions typically take place in the comfort of my studio near Sheridan.
What should I wear?
When you are comfortable with yourself, that is when you look your best. We will be sitting, standing, and dancing so comfort is best. Don’t stress over clothing. You can have your family all look adorable and be comfortable at the same time. I suggest letting everyone try clothing on if it’s new and wash it once prior to your session. It will allow clothing to feel less stiff and it’s a good practice run to know if anyone is bothered by a tag or string. Plaids, stripes, or prints can work but try to think it through and maybe only one person wearing them.
How do I get additional products and prints from a professional lab?
Within 2 weeks of your shoot, you will receive a private online gallery where you can download all of your images. You will have an additional 2 weeks after your online gallery is delivered to purchase prints and products from a professional lab. Al a carte session photos do not include digital images, but have the ability to order photos from the professional lab via their online gallery.
How do you choose what images to use in the gallery from my session?
I go through each image of your session and choose a minimum of 20 images that are the best. When I look through your images from the session I look for images that represent you and your family the best, as well as myself as an artist. I promise a minimum of 20 images, but many times there are more. I will put all of the images in your gallery that meet my professional standards, I do not have a maximum that I stop at, I want you to have all of the best images that represent you and your family.
How far out are you booked?
I usually book-out about 1-2 months in advance, with the exception of the fall shoots when I book up to 4 months in advance.
Do you offer mini-sessions?
Mini-sessions are just not my photography style. I strive to create a gallery of images of you or your family as you are now and I don't feel that your family and their personality can be captured in a short mini session time frame.
